Picture Perfect

My favorite picture of my daughter. This picture doesn't really capture the 'essence' of who she is but it does capture a part of her that is difficult to capture.
My somewhat shy and introverted daughter has these moments but they are impossible to capture on film. As soon as she sees a camera she crawls back to that same expression -the half smile. The one that tells me she just tolerates all of this picture business.
But on this day, her 5th birthday, she was in the moment enough to forget about the camera and what came through was her joy. She loves animals so, and all she wanted for this birthday was a giraffe. This giraffe was talked about for months beforehand.
This expression is priceless. We don't see it very often, and others rarely see it.
This is one I treasure.

I have always loved this picture because of the story you tell. You did capture "pure joy", it's perfect!

What fantastic timing - you got the perfect picture of that expression.

What's better than seeing true joy on our children's faces??

Precious! It is fun to capture those moments when they don't realize the camera is watching!
