Rediscovery of Past Loves

I admit it.
I had a love affair with Belgian beer for 12 years.
I loved them all but had particular affection for my beloved Hoegaarden White.
I had been known to enjoy the company of the fun and playful Lambic as well.
Truth be told I would spend time with any Belgian beer and figure I had spent my time wisely.
Last night, my friend Diane and I spent several hours with my lost loves. Diane, while not a beer lover, did appreciate the lambic. She didn't fall in love and order one. She stayed with her Merlot, but still as a self proclaimed beer hater, she said it was pretty good. Our watering hole was fresh out of my true love, Hoegaarden, but maybe that is a good thing.
It gives me something to look forward to.
Fine, quality crafted beer is not unlike fine wine. Those that say they don't like beer, should keep an open mind until they have had a chance to experience quality beer. Something that is hard to find at the 7-11.
Pierre Celis is my hero. He is an artist and his palette is wheat, coriander, and curacao orange peels.

Best Friend

Growing up I always wanted a 'best' friend.
I wanted someone I could share my secrets with
giggle and talk about boys with
cry with
experience growing pains with
share the happy moments with

I had to wait 19 years to get to know her
But we made up for lost time

She keeps my secrets (even the ones that aren't really secrets)
She make me laugh
and better yet she really laughs at my silly, stupid humor
We have seen each other through the early heartbreak
Only to stand up with each other as we said "I do" to great guys.
I married a guy who is, in his personality, very much like my best friend.

We grew up.
We learned big life lessons.
And through it all she has been the one person that really knows me, knows my wounds, understands me, and likes me anyway.

We have our husbands and our children and we love them with all that we are
but I know as long as we are on this earth
I will have my best friend.

Everyone should have a Sow.

Wax Museum

2nd Grade Wax Museum
Drop a coin and here is what you would have heard:
Hello, I am Peter Tchaikovsky.
I was born on May 7th, 1840 in Votkinsk, Russia.
I made great works of art through my music like the 1812 Overture and Swan Lake.
I had some success in my lifetime but was fortunate to have a patroness named Nadezhda von Meck.
She was a wealthy widow who sent me money regularly so I didn’t have to worry about making a living.
For 14 years we communicated by writing letters.
Ever since my death on November 6th 1893, people all over the world have been touched by my music
Love this kid!
I helped with the sign and costume. Everything else, Samuel did himself.

Ten Question Challenge

1) Right now I want: More Sleep

2) I wish I knew how to: grow things successfully

3) When I want to indulge myself, I: get a haircut, wax my eyebrows, maybe even a manicure.

4) You’ll never see me: with a tattoo.

5) A childhood memory that I love: Saturday shopping with mom. We would take the bus to the shopping center, shop, and then to lunch. Most of the time money was tight so it was lunch at Taco Bell. I never minded because even Taco Bell was a treat. Every once in awhile we could go to Bob's Big Boy for a burger. I just remember enjoying my time with my mama.

6) 2 things I do every single day: Have my morning coffee on SS, and clean the kitchen.

7) Happiest moment of 2008, so far: I have had a few but the one that sticks out is being outside and enjoying the moment. It was a beautiful morning and the wind was blowing through the trees...it was if they were talking to one another. It was peaceful and calming and exciting all at the same time.

8) Describe yourself in 3 words: Goofy, sensitive, loyal.

9) 2 scrap related goals for this year: Trying something new -developing my own style, and playing more- not taking it so seriously.

10) You have $40 that you MUST spend on yourself – what do you do with it? While it should go to new undergarments it would easily be spent on scrapbooking materials. It makes me happy.
